The Downingtown West High School senior boys had the opportunity to run for the titles of Mr. West and Mr. Congeniality. This group of boys that chose to run had weeks of practice filled with dancing, singing, and other special talents they have. A panel of teachers and students in the audience got to vote for their favorite performer to win the 2023 Mr. West title, which went to Ryan Gallagher.

Additionally, all the boys picked a charity that meant something to them and got the chance to raise money for that charity. The boy that raised the most money for their charity won the title of Mr. Congeniality, which was Brady Manning in this year’s show. This year’s event broke the school record and raised $13,000 in total.

Each year, there is a theme for the Mr. West show, and the 2023 show theme was Celebrity Singers. Each boy picked an artist and performed a talent show with some dancing, singing, or even cooking. Gallagher performed his talent of Irish dancing as Britney Spears, and Manning performed his talent of singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Wars” with lightsabers as Miley Cyrus.

Student Council co-president, Lauren Scott, who helped run the show, said, “It was a very rewarding experience to see all the boys gain so much confidence from their performances and be able to donate to different charities.”

The Mr. West show also helped the boys create good friendships along the way.
