The Downingtown High School West teachers were invited to a special Teacher Luncheon, which was held by the DHSW Student Council. Teachers, leaders of Student Council, Mr. Matthew Vernon and Mrs. Brittany McGregor helped the students create this day to put the teachers into the holiday spirit. They were greeted during their lunch period with the library filled with winter decorations. The West orchestra came to play music for the teachers to have a relaxing period. Along with the ambiance, there was food catered by Anthony’s Pizza and an amazing cake supplied by Bakers of Buffington to finish off the meal.
After a long first half of the year, the students planned a day for the teachers to look forward to. One of the teachers that attended the luncheon, Mr. Francis Daulerio, said the event was well organized. “I am very grateful for the people who took the time to put this together,” Daulerio said. “I also loved the little ‘School Survival Kit’ baggie they gave us.”
Not only were the teachers able to have an appreciation day, the students involved were very happy to have done something good for their school. As Student Council president, Lauren Scott (’23), said, “Overall, it was really rewarding to give back to all the faculty members who do so much for our school every day.”
This day is always one for everyone to enjoy and will continue to be a West tradition.
