It’s official! The 2020-2021 Mr. West pageant will be held on Wednesday, May 26, in the auditorium at Downingtown West High School.
This is an annual event here at West run by Student Council. The senior boys involved try to raise money for a charity of their choice while vying for the title of Mr. West. The boys will dance and perform a talent that will make them shine.
The Mr.West contestants for 2021 include seniors Joe Boyce, Mario Cicchinelli, Ben Meunier, Nick Piergiovanni, Daniel Sharpless, Sam Shelton, Bevan Watson, and Zack Yaros. The theme this year is cereal box characters — Lucky the Leprechaun, the Trix Rabbit, and Fred Flintstone, to name a few.
Although there will be a few modifications due to COVID-19 restrictions, the boys are looking forward to putting on an entertaining show. Emery Cottingham (‘21), vice president of West’s Student Council, said, “Everyone is super excited for the show. Everyone involved has put in so much effort to make it the best one yet.”
By the end of the night on May 26, a select group of teacher judges, in conjunction with crowd votes, will crown the class of 2021’s Mr.West. Be sure to come out and support this good cause; all proceeds go to charities chosen by the contestants. More information will be released soon about streaming the show for those who cannot attend the live performance.
Good luck to all of the contestants, emcees, crew, and planning committee members as they put the finishing touches on one of West’s most beloved productions!
