For the first time in West’s history, a tent will be set up in Kottmeyer Stadium for this year’s senior prom festivities.

As many of you know, West is finally making it possible for upperclassman students to have their proms again!

Senior Prom will be held outside this year at Kottmeyer Stadium on May 14th from 7pm to 11pm. Post Prom will be held simultaneously in the Wagner Gym from 8pm to 12am.  Unfortunately, there will be no rain date for prom, but there will be a tent set up in Kott to protect promgoers from the elements.

While everyone is having fun, the school asks that everyone follow the correct dress code and social distancing guidelines. Everyone will be required to wear masks during prom and post-prom. All students, whether in-person, virtual, or cyber, can join the Class of 2021 at prom so long as obligations have been met.

This year’s senior prom will look a little different than in previous years. Since it is outside on the turf football field, they are making adjustments to make things go as smoothly as possible.  From the parking lot, there will be a walkway leading students to the stadium. In the stadium, there will be a large tent set up. The school is going to be laying out a wooden dance floor so everyone can safely have fun. The school recommends that students either wear flat shoes on the field or thick heels. The school asks that no pointy heels are to be worn on the turf.

When it is time to eat, there will be tables set up and students will sit with the friends they requested. After the ticket sales close, there will be an email sent out regarding information about reserving tables.

Students are welcome to bring a date with them as long as their date has also purchased a ticket. Any guests attending other schools in the district do not require an administrator’s signature For those who attend a school outside our district, they will need an administrator’s signature from their school for approval. Guests who are college students do not require an administrator’s signature.

Post Prom will be held in the Wagner Gym, with a full schedule of games, entertainment, and prizes. The Post Prom
will be held at the same time as Senior Prom so students will be able to travel back and forth between events. Some examples of the activities available are miniature golf, cash cab, fortune teller, escape room, casino games, henna tattoos, caricaturist, Minute to Win it, trike races, and various games. Test your knowledge in the cash cab while you are asked trivia questions. If you get the questions right you get prizes. Post Prom will be having a DJ performing throughout the night along with a hypnotist. Towards the end of the night, the hypnotist will be performing and prizes will later be handed out. Feel free to travel back and forth at any time during prom.
