With the new season, comes many new activities to do in the Downingtown area. The warm air and longer days will make these activities much more exciting. Whether you want to relax after a long week or hang out with your friends and family, these activities can be fun with everyone!

1. Pelican’s Snoballs

Although spring sunshine has melted all the snow away, snowballs are still around at Pelican’s Snoballs. They have a large variety of 100 different flavors and 4 different sizes. Pelican’s Snoballs is only open during the spring and summer months so make sure to grab a cup before they close!

2. Ritas

Rita’s might be similar to Pelican’s Snoballs, but they are different in many ways. One way they are different is that Rita’s sells gelatos and ice cream. A gelato is a cup of flavored water ice with a dollop of ice cream on top. Both gelatos and ice cream are a great item at Rita’s that are also available at Rita’s during the spring and summer months.

3. Nature Walks

All throughout Downingtown are hiking and biking trails. These trails are visited daily by runners and bikers alike. These trails also showcase the beautiful nature that Downingtown has to offer, such as rivers, lakes, and historic buildings. Some popular trails include Marsh Creek, Harmony Hill, and Struble Trail.

4. Bowling

An activity that has been around Downingtown for years is bowling. Bowling can offer hours of competitive entertainment with friends and family. The two best places for bowling are the Bowling Palace and Round 1. The Bowling Palace is an old but lively place for bowling and has been around for years. Round 1 is a newer bowling place with an arcade and karaoke so people can have the maximum amount of fun in one place.

5. Axe Throwing

A new activity to spark up in Downingtown is Angry Jack’s Axe Throwing Club. Married couple AJ and Nikki started axe throwing as a hobby and they decided to share their fun with the residents and community of Downingtown. Although this is a unique thing to do, it can be dangerous, so do it only if you feel comfortable with axes. Axe throwing can be a great way to relieve stress after a long week or just a good way to hang out with friends. If axe throwing becomes something you love to do, then you can join an axe throwing club in Downingtown and talk with other axe throwers.

As the weather warms up and COVID-restrictions ease, there are many options for fun activities in the Downingtown area.  Whether indoors or outdoors, there’s something for everyone to do in the local community!
