Your Downingtown West Field Hockey team is currently 12-0 in the Ches-Mont National Division and 14-4 in their regular season. On Wednesday, October 16, at 7pm in Kottmeyer stadium, the Whippets of girls’ field hockey defeated the WC Rustin Knights with a final shutout score of 8-0. This was an extra special victory, as it occurred on the team’s Senior Night.  The victory came with goals from Ciana Riccardo (‘20), Tatum Johnson (‘20), and Ceirra Margatish (‘24).

The Whippets, a very young team this year after losing 5 starting seniors last year, have worked extra hard off the field to take the National Division Ches-Mont title for the 4th year in a row. The field hockey team is proud of their accomplishments. Senior Tatum Johnson said, “It feels so good to come out on top again, and we just have to take one game at a time.”

The Whippets will now head into postseason competition with a bye for their first game in districts competition. They will play their first districts game on Wednesday, October 23, at Kottmeyer Stadium.

Best of luck to the girls as they enter the playoffs!
