On the cold night of November 20th in Kottmeyer Stadium, the Downingtown West Annual Powderpuff Flag Football Game ended with a 35-0 win for the seniors! The class of 2019 will go down in history as the first class to win the Powderpuff game as both juniors and seniors, cementing their legacy as historic athletes here at West.

The juniors put up a tough fight, but the trick plays and skills of the seniors were just too much for the juniors to stop. Both teams incorporated both pass and running plays, including the “Philly Special” pass play by the seniors that ended in a touchdown. Senior coach Ryan Wetzel thinks that “one of the biggest advantages we had as seniors was that we had a lot of returning players, and with that comes experience.” This experience proved beneficial to the squad as they worked together as a unit to defeat the inexperienced junior girls.

The 2018 Powderpuff Game was a legendary one to watch, and as senior player Alanna Braxton states, “It feels so good to go down in history!”

Congratulations to all of the participants and coaches of the 2018 Powderpuff Game!
