Downingtown West’s Homecoming week was filled with lots of school spirit and several activities. The spirit days included: camo, tie-dye, USA colors, class colors, and a pink out. The ranking of the grades for the Spirit War competition changed throughout the week. On Monday, the class of 2019 was in last place, but by Friday, they managed to finish in 1st place, winning the coupon for free Chick-fil-a. Elaina Geiger, a member of the class of 2019, said, “I knew the seniors would pull through at the last minute. We always do”.

The first activity of the traditional HoCo festivities was the annual East v. West bonfire, which was hosted on Thursday. It was a night of excitement, celebrating our win against East, and preparing for the weekend ahead.

On Friday, West’s football team played Bishop Shanahan. The Whippets ended up winning with a score of 14-13 after they blocked Shanahan’s attempt at a two-point conversion in the last minute and a half. The highlight of the game was during halftime when the Homecoming Court and Queen were announced. The Court included Morgan Alston, Jordan Bradley, Annika Brynildsen, Olivia DiGiorgio, Dana Hallahan, Brianna Hart, Holly Koons, Taylor Kelly, Trinity Monroe, and Linnea Rodgers. Congratulations to Morgan Alston, Downingtown West’s 2019 Homecoming Queen!

The week finally concluded with the Homecoming Dance, hosted by StuCo on Saturday night in the small gym. From 7 pm to 10 pm, students dressed to the nines and showed off their best dance moves. Student Council decorated the hallways around the gym to show off the theme of Old Hollywood. They even had a red carpet, Walk of Fame, and popcorn! It was a great way to end a wonderful week.

Thank you to everyone who worked to make Homecoming Week one to remember for all of us here at West!
