If this summer you are hoping to get off the couch and make some money, you should check out some of the local places that hiring. You can find a job in whatever interests you, from local restaurants, to summer camps, to outdoor work, to retail!

Food is a business that is always hiring, because everyone has to eat. Some fast food places in the area hiring are Zac’s Burger Bus, Kentucky Fried Chicken (must be 16), and Pizza Hut. Some local country clubs/retirement homes that are hiring are the Whitford Country Club, Tel Hai Retirement in Honey Brook, and Simpson Meadows.

In the summer, working outside is an option that some people really enjoy. Brandywine Picnic Park is a great place to work outside, and you can work there at age 14. Personally, I have worked at the Picnic Park with my neighbor, Leila Johnson, who says of the work environment, “It is a really good first job.”

For those with CPR or lifeguard certifications, the Lionville YMCA is hiring sports instructors, swim instructors, and lifeguards. Fox Pools is also hiring lifeguards. Indian Springs Day Camp is a local camp looking for help. Someone looking for more hours should give PJ Reilly Contracting a call.

There is many retail jobs hiring. If you love fashion, Plato’s Closet and DSW are hiring. Pacer Pools, Rite Aid, Staples, Five Below, Home Depot, and Lowe’s are looking for in-store help. And, last but not least, Wegmans is always hiring.

As a reminder, if you are under 16, you will need to get a worker’s permit in order to gain employment. See the secretaries in the main office for more information about that!
