The Downingtown West Softball season has started!

West Softball currently has both a varsity and junior varsity squad, unlike other schools who only have a varsity team. Former player for West Softball, Casey Coker, now coaches alongside of head coach, Mr. Joseph Germani. The varsity team consists of many returning varsity players from last year with a few new players added to the roster.

The team has played two scrimmages so far, winning both, and has their first regular season game against Bishop Shanahan on Monday, March 26th. Senior Mackenzie Weinstein feels “confident and comfortable going into the game [against Shanahan]. We are putting in a lot of practice in many different, specific aspects of the game to make sure we are in the best position we could be.”

The biggest competition for West Softball this year seems to be Coatesville and Bishop Shanahan, but the Whippets are sure to pull off the wins this season!

Best of luck, girls!
